Crafting has always
been part of me.
Crafting has always been a part of who I truly am and when I am at my happiest. I can remember being a child and going on nature walks with my mother, and collecting dried fallen leaves and berries, taking them home, and pasting them onto colorful construction paper. I always found joy in creating something new as a child, and still do to this day.
I’m Shakira, the founder of B. Sierra Simone. In 2023 when my soul was searching for a new hobby, I decided that I would try my hand at candle making. I was tired of falling victim to the big-name retailers’ annual candle sales, where I would stock up on candles that absolutely smelled divine, but I knew could not be safe long term for my family. I would find a light layer of black soot on my white cabinetry, and I knew it had to be from the candles that I was burning. It was time for me to make a change.
The name of my company B. Sierra Simone is a homage to my three children. I used their middle names Bryce, Sierra and Simone since they are my inspiration.
